Introduction: Factors affecting quality of life include physical activity, social support and fatigue. Due to the growing elderly population, this study aimed to determine the relationship between physical activity, social support and fatigue in healthy elderlies in city of Ilam.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 280 elderly people in Ilam were included using two-stage cluster sampling method. The questionnaire consisted of a questionnaire of physical activity, Duke social support and fatigue scale (Fatigue Severity Scale). The analysis was performed using SPSS software version 20, descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and analytical tests (t-test and ANOVA).
Results: Elderlies with moderate physical activity and low social support also suffered from fatigue. The findings also showed that between physical activity, social support and fatigue there was a significant relationship. With increased perceived social support increased the level of physical activity and decreased fatigue rate in them (P < 0.05).
Conclusions: Since one of the roles of community health nurses is improving the health status of patients, nurses in community health need to give this group a special focus on increasing physical activity and social support and reducing their fatigue level.
