Introduction: Hypertension is one of the most common diseases that lead to other diseases. Education of self-care behaviors is part of the management of hypertension disease. This study aimed to examine the effects of nursing intervention education on self-care behaviors in patients with hypertension.
Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted on 50 patients with high blood pressure referred to health centers of regions 1 and 2 in Kermanshah city during 2015-2016. To collect data, demographic and self-care measurement questionnaires were used. The questionnaires were completed by the patients before and six weeks after the face to face education. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics by the SPSS software version 20.
Results: The mean score of self-care before the intervention was 43.6 ± 6.8 which was increased to 66.4 ± 4.6 after the intervention (P < 0. 0001).
Conclusions: Education of nursing interventions seems to have a positive effect on self-care behaviors of the patients with hypertension. So, the program of training self-care behaviors used in this study is recommended to promote self-care behaviors in patients with high blood pressure.
