Introduction: Psychological capital is seen as an important force for personal development and improvement of individual performance, accordingly, the present study aims to determine the relationship between psychological capital and educational well-being of nursing students of Gonabad University of Medical Sciences in the academic year of 2016.

methods: The present study was a descriptive cross-sectional correlation study. The study population was all undergraduate nursing students in Gonabad University of Medical Sciences. The statistical sample was stratified random sampling 150 from 220 individuals, based on Morgan table. Data were collected with two criteria of Lutangese psychological capital (Has a subscale; self-efficacy, hope, resilience and optimism) and Petrini's educational well-being. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient, regression and independent t-test using SPSS20 software.

Results: The findings of the research showed that there is a significant relationship between psychological capital and educational well-being (r = 0.17, p = 0.03). There was a positive and significant relationship between self-efficacy and educational well-being (r = 0.26, p = 0.001) and between hope with educational well-being (r = 0 139, p = 0.04) and between optimism with educational well-being (r = 0/141, p = 0.03) There is a positive and significant relationship, Also, multiple regression simultaneously predicts 9% of the variance of academic well-being through psychological capital.

Conclusions: Findings of the research showed that psychological capital could predict the student's educational well-being. Therefore, it is suggested that working groups and workshops should be formed to improve the psychological capital and improve the sense of well-being of students by medical students.
