Introduction: Since non-compliance is one of the challenges faced by clinicians working with schizophrenics, and given that the attitude toward treatment is one of critical factors responsible for this non-compliance, it is essential to study this phenomenon and its possible contributing factors. For this reason, this research was designed and conducted to investigate attitude toward hospitalization in these patients.      
Method: This was a qualitative research conducted using Interpretational Phenomenological Analysis. The sample was selected using purposive sampling method and all schizophrenic patients who were admitted in acute units of Tehran’s Raazi Psychiatric Center during year 1396 4th quarter and had participated in a research that examined the effectiveness of the Community Re-entry Program were selected for semi-structured interviews. The sample was comprised of two groups. The validity and reliability of this qualitative research was based on three axes of applicability, stability, and reality basing.
Results: The findings from the analysis of the content of patient interviews were summarized in 13 thematic clusters and 5 main themes including "environmental factors, unawareness, knowledge, factors related to self-esteem, and quality of life of patients during hospitalization" in the conventional psychiatric treatment group and 15 thematic clusters and 6 main themes including the above main themes along with another main theme called "treatment plans" in the Community Re-entry Program
Conclusion: The factors such as environmental restrictions, individual knowledge and nonawareness, self-esteem threats, quality of life during hospitalization, and quality and quantity of treatment plans influenced patients attitude toward hospitalization experience. There was a qualitative difference between patients attitude in the two groups, while the attitude toward hospitalization in the Community Re-entry Program was more positive in general.
