Introduction: Infertile women face numerous emotional, social, and psychological challenges that can substantially diminish their resilience. The present study aimed to develop a structural equation model of resilience based on positive emotional experience toward a spouse in treatment-resistant infertile women, with spiritual health as a mediating variable.
Methods: This study employed a descriptive-correlational design using structural equation modeling. The statistical population comprised all treatment-resistant infertile women referred to the Infertility Clinic of Shahid Beheshti Hospital in Isfahan, from whom 300 individuals were selected via convenience sampling. Data were collected using the Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale (Connor & Davidson, 2003), the Spiritual Well-Being Scale (Paloutzian & Ellison, 1982), and the Positive Feelings Toward Spouse Questionnaire (Tolstedt & Stokes, 1983). Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling and Pearson correlation in SPSS version 27 and AMOS.
Results: The results revealed positive and significant correlations among positive emotional experience with the spouse, resilience, and spiritual health. Furthermore, spiritual health was found to influence resilience in treatment-resistant infertile women both directly and indirectly, through the mediating role of positive emotional experience toward the spouse (p < 0.001).
Conclusion: Positive emotional experience with the spouse and spiritual health each appear to play meaningful roles in shaping the resilience of treatment-resistant infertile women. It is therefore recommended that healthcare professionals and counselors working with infertile couples incorporate strategies aimed at enhancing emotional relationships and fostering attention to internal and spiritual values as means of strengthening resilience in this population.
