Introduction: Few researchs conducted about the effect of exercise training on body composition of mental retardation male, So the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of eight weeks’ selected football trainings on body composition of male with intellectual disability.
Methods: In this semi-experimental study, 16 volunteer male of talash intellectual disability institute of shiraz city were randomly selected and divided in two groups of eight people including experimental (age 25.3±7.44; height 164.3±5.11 and weight 68.09±5.17) and control groups (age 29.4±3.12; height 164.2±7.06 and weight 67.5±4.75). The experimental group performed football trainings for eight weeks, three sessions per week and 90 minutes per session and control group performed only their daily activities. Body composition of the subjects was measured in pre-test and at the end of eight weeks. For analysis of research findings used Kolmogorov-Smirnov, independent and dependent t-tests (p≤0.05).
Results: The results showed that eight weeks’ football trainings had no significant effect on total body fluid (p=0.69), protein mass (p=0.57), mineral mass (p=0.46), lean body mass (p=0.43) and fat mass (p=0.65) of male with intellectual disability.
Conclusion: According to the results of present study it seems that eight weeks selected football trainings have no significant effect on improvement of body composition of male with intellectual disability.
