Introduction: Dental anxiety plays an important role in health decline, and it seems that dental hygiene attitude and health-oriented lifestyles play a role in it. Therefore, the aim of the present research was determine the relationship between dental hygiene attitude and health-oriented lifestyles with dental anxiety.
Methods: This study was applied in terms of purpose and descriptive, in terms of the implementation method. The population of the present research comprised the clients of dental offices in Western Mazandaran in 2024. The sample size was set at 165 people, selected using the available sampling method. The research tools included a demographic information form, an oral and dental health attitude questionnaire, a health-oriented lifestyle profile, and a dental anxiety questionnaire. The data from this study were analysed using Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression with the enter method in SPSS-22.
Results: This research showed a significant negative relationship between dental hygiene attitude and a health-oriented lifestyle, and dental anxiety (P < 0.001). Also, dental hygiene attitude and a health-oriented lifestyle significantly predicted 32% of the changes in dental anxiety (P<0.001).
Conclusions: According to the results of the present research, health professionals and therapists can reduce dental anxiety and improve dental hygiene attitude and health-oriented lifestyle through educational workshops.
