Abstract:   (98 Views)
Introduction: Given the importance of maintaining and improving the sleep quality of children with special learning disabilities' sleep quality and its role in reducing learning problems, the present study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of Doll play therapy combined with psychodrama on sleep quality.
Methods: The present study was a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design with a control group and a 2-month follow-up period. The study population included all male second-year elementary school students with learning disabilities who were referred to the Learning Disability Centre in Birjand city during the 2021-2022 academic year. 30 samples were selected using a convenience sampling method and randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups. The data collection tool included the sleep quality questionnaire for children by Ounes et al. (2000). The intervention for the experimental group consisted of 8 45-minute sessions twice a week, and no intervention was provided for the control group. Analysis of variance with repeated measures and SPSS version 24 was used to analyse the data.
Results: The results showed a significant difference in mean sleep quality scores between the experimental and control groups at the pre-test, post-test, and follow-up stages (p<0.01).
Conclusion: Based on the results, Doll play therapy combined with psychodrama can be used by therapists and specialists in child mental health as a therapeutic approach to improve children's sleep quality.
